Wanda Elizabeth Kurkowski

Wanda Elizabeth Kurkowski, 84 of Gaylord, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 at home. She was born in Wyandotte on April 11, 1921 to Leonard and Lottie (Bogusz) Wnorowski.

On Oct. 31, 1947 Wanda married Edward R. Kurkowski. They moved to Gaylord in 1948.

Wanda had worked in food preparation in Gaylord-area restaurants. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral Parish and the Daughters of Isabella, and enjoyed quilting.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Edward in 1982, and by two brothers, two sisters and a great-grandson, Tyler.

She is survived by her children, Wanda (Nicholas) Poleshuk of Boyne City, Edwina Kurkowski of Little Rock, Ark., Roberta (Timothy) Wilson of Flint, Damian (Janet) Kurkowski of Gaylord, and Simon Kurkowski of Alba and his friend, Pam Livermore; grandchildren, Vicky, Nick, Rachael, Matthew, Gwen, Elizabeth, Thomas, Trevor and Travis; and her sisters, Mary Ulbrich of Houghton Lake and Theresa Barnes of Anaheim, Calif.
Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home took place on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m., and will be held today (Saturday) at St. Mary Cathedral from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral Mass at 2 p.m. A rosary by St. Mary Daughters of Isabella was offered Friday at 6 p.m.
