CHESTER TWP. - Investigators from the Gaylord Michigan State Police (MSP) post are probing a number of recent breaking and enterings at several Lake Louise Association residences west of Johannesburg and are asking for anyone with information to contact Trooper Randy Ambs at the post at 732-5141.

According to Ambs, five homes and one garage were broken into sometime between the night of Oct. 26 and the morning of Oct. 27. He said all six burglaries appear to be related. A seventh Lake Louise residence also was broken into between Oct. 8 and 21 but does not appear to be related to the other burglaries.

Ambs said thieves were unsuccessful in gaining entry to two of the residences but the other three homes had been ransacked and televisions and VCRs were the target of the intruders. A large number of hand and power tools were reportedly taken from the garage, as were several fishing tackle boxes, a trolling motor, a fish finder, electric heaters and a new propane heater.

Four of the homes were located next door to each other on the lake and the fifth residence was located across the street.

Ambs said there were reports by some residents of a black pickup, possibly a Chevrolet, with a loud or defective exhaust system and two while male occupants, seen in the area about the time of the break-ins.
