House on the move slows traffic
Wednesday, January 31, 2007 8:59 AM EST

BAGLEY TWP. -Traffic alongside Otsego Lake on Old 27 slowed to a crawl Tuesday morning, giving a wide berth to a slow-moving northbound ranch house which took up both lanes on its way to a new location on Ramblewood Drive.

The house and detached garage, owned by Mark and Gayle Lamberies, were donated to Habitat for Humanity and moved from a lot on the south end of Otsego Lake to make room for a new home the Lamberies plan to build on the lot they purchased.

Rather than tear down the existing home, Gayle Lamberies said, the couple contacted Habitat for Humanity director Mike Wood and ended up making the donation after Wood and Habitat board members deemed the home in too good of shape to demolish.

Lamberies said the home was moved to a new foundation and lot on Ramblewood Drive and will be put up for sale, with the proceeds from the sale to be used by Habitat for Humanity to construct a new home in Otsego County.
