Emily E. Halvorson, 77, of Gaylord, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007 in Lady Lake, Fla.

She was born in Detroit on Dec. 27, 1929 and moved to Gaylord on Jan. 1, 1966 from Livonia.

Mrs. Halvorson was a retired cosmetologist and was the originator of New Dimensions. The salon continues to be family owned.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and painting and was a devoted member of the Gaylord Evangelical Free Church. Above all, her family was her No. 1 priority.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. from the Gaylord Evangelical Free Church.
Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Halvorson is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald; their children, Ann (Mark) Corbiser, Paul (Lisa) Halvorson, John (Franciene) Halvorson, and Christine (Thomas) Mons all of Gaylord, and Phila (James) Gilligan of Englewood, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren (with two on the way); sisters, Betty Perkins of Royal Oak, Elaine Mack of Howell, and Catherine DuFour of Southfield and Carol Martines of Fenton; and brother, John Wilkins of Buckley.
