LaSeñorita lauds employee Tuszynski• LaSeñorita in Gaylord has chosen Emily Tuszynski as Entertainer of the Month. Tuszynski has been working at the restaurant at 737 W. Main St., for more than a year and is a server and a bartender.
“Emily does a great job keeping the coolers cleaned and organized,” said Beth Gomoluch, administrative assistant. “Her attitude has been outstanding and she is always willing to help others and cover open shifts. Thanks for always keeping busy and for your dedication to our guests.”
Robinson earns certification• Brad Robinson, an employee of Waters RV and Storage Center, recently received the designation of Certified RV Service Technician through the Recreational Vehicle Dealer’s Association/Recreational Vehicle Industry Association.
This is in recognition of demonstrating a high level of competence by successfully completing an examination and documenting job experience. Robinson has been a member of the Waters RV and Storage Center service team for two years.

New faces
Lamberies joins chamber staff• Gayla Lamberies recently joined the staff of the Gaylord/Otsego County Chamber of Commerce as the special events coordinator.
An 18-year resident of Otsego County, Lamberies’ primary responsibility will be in coordinating the planning for Alpenfest, the chamber’s largest event each year. In addition, she will assist with other chamber events, such as the annual chamber Golf Outing and the Business Showcase, as well as handle sales of electronic advertising on the chamber’s Web site.
Lamberies is the former owner of Classic Tan in downtown Gaylord. She worked at the Northern Star from 1989 to 1998.
Bob Kasprzak, executive director of the chamber, welcomed Lamberies to the staff and encourages the community to contact her with questions and input for Alpenfest and other chamber activities.
NMH names chief executive nurse• Northern Michigan Hospital (NMH) in Petoskey has announced the appointment of Mary-Anne D. Ponti, RN, MS, MBA, as its new chief nurse executive. Ponti assumes the position previously held by Reezie DeVet, RN, EdD, who assumed the role of chief operating officer in late 2006.
“Mary-Anne is a seasoned senior executive with a diversified background in healthcare. She brings a strong emphasis on operations with progressive management and leadership skills,” said DeVet.
“I am passionate about patient care and so is Northern Michigan Hospital. I love nursing,” said Ponti. “When I discovered that Northern Michigan Hospital was focused on striving for excellence and will settle for nothing less, I knew this was the place for me.”
Ponti received her degree in nursing from the University of Vermont; a master’s degree in nursing with a major in adult medical-surgical nursing from Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y.; and a master’s in business administration from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine. She most recently served as vice president of nursing and division leader at the Sisters of Charity Health System of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.
In 2005, Ponti was honored with the Organization of Maine Nurse Executive Leadership Award. Throughout her 25-year career in nursing and hospital administration, Ponti has served on numerous professional and community boards and councils as well as having state and national professional affiliations.

Ptasniks purchase Classic Tan• Adam and Lisa Ptasnik are the new owners of Classic Tan, 104 W. Main St., Gaylord. The couple became owners of the business on Feb. 1.
“We are very excited about our new venture with an established business,” Adam Ptasnik said. “Classic Tan will continue to offer great quality service and friendly environment. We are also going to slowly update and improve the salon to better serve our customers. Our focus this tanning season will be to offer the hottest and freshest bulbs in northern Michigan.”

“Chrysler Sebring Hats Off to the Derby” invites entrants to submit a sketch by March 5 of an original hat design that captures the essence of the redesigned Sebring convertible and the sophistication of the Kentucky Derby.
