ATLANTA — The Briley Township Park on Thunder Bay River will be the site of Bluegrass in the Park, a festival for musicians, Aug. 3-5.
In its third year, the festival is billed as one “for those who love to play bluegrass and the people who love to hear it played.”
On Friday, it’s open mic for all bluegrass musicians from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by Taste of Grass from 8 to 10 p.m.
On Saturday the competition begins, at 1 p.m. with cash prizes awarded in individual instrument competitions: guitar, banjo, fiddle and mandolin.
The microphone opens up again for all bluegrass musicians at 4 p.m., and at 8 p.m., the Douglas Family takes centerstage.
Gospel music becomes the focus at 10 a.m. Sunday with music by Taste of Grass.
Admission to the festival is free, but donations are welcome.
