• The Grayling Senior Center’s hot dog sale will be held Friday and Saturday, outside Dollar General, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. One dollar buys a hot dog and drink. Also, the senior center’s rummage sale fundraiser will be Thursday, 1-7 p.m.; and Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at 15639 M-72 West. For questions or reservations call 348-7123.

• Top of Michigan Trails Council will hold a bike ride on Saturday from Harbor Springs to Petoskey and back on the Little Traverse Wheelway. Riders will start off at Zorn Park in Harbor Springs before 10 a.m., travel to Petoskey via Beach Road and back on either the same route or the M-119 shoulder. The course is mostly paved and is 18 miles, or two hours long. Ride is free to council members and $5 for nonmembers. • The annual Lakes of the North Fly-In/BBQ is slated for Saturday. Breakfast at Settings Restaurant will run from 7 to 11 a.m., followed by a barbecue at the airport beginning at noon. Event features plane rides, silent auctions, kids’ activities, golf, horseback rides and more. Call 231-585-6100.

• Grayling Promotional Association will host a community “Junque in the Trunk” sale Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Grayling Mini-Mall. To reserve a space call 348-2639.

• The Boyne City Police Department’s annual Drag Race fundraising event is slated for Sunday, noon-6 p.m., at Boyne City Airport in Boyne City. • The 56th annual Posen Potato Festival is slated for Sept. 7-9. Featured events include Friday’s Polka Dance, 7 p.m.-1 a.m.; Bump-and-Run on Saturday, 1 p.m.; and Sunday’s Grand Festival Parade at 1:30 p.m. Dances, meals, musical performances and carnival rides all festival long. • The MSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program will sponsor “Intro to Garden Design” Sept. 8 at University Center in Gaylord. Workshop consists of lecture and hands-on exercises and features Lynn LaPointe Wiese, a registered landscape architect. Class is prerequisite for advanced garden design classes to follow in October. • Jordan River Arts Center, 301 Main St., East Jordan, is hosting a Motorcycle Art Exhibit through Sept. 20, featuring nine vintage and custom motorcycles, fine paintings, drawings, original prints and posters, sculptures of carved wood, recycled materials, furniture, cardboard, laser cut steel and photographs. • Cheboygan Area Public Library, 100 S. Bailey, Cheboygan, will hold a reception Friday, 6 p.m., for the opening of two exhibits, “Key Ingredients: America by Food” by the Smithsonian Institute and “Michigan Foodways” by MSU. Exhibits open to the public on Saturday at 10 a.m. The exhibits will be at the library until Oct. 14.
