No injuries in rollover crash
• Neil Boff Jr., 32, Paw Paw, was northbound on I-75, two-tenths of a mile north of Charles Brink Road in Bagley Township, Saturday around 2:40 p.m. when a Jayco trailer he was pulling with a 1999 Chevrolet pickup reportedly began to sway for an undetermined reason.
According to reports, the vehicle was traveling at approximately 60 mph when both the vehicle and trailer rolled over on the east side of the roadway. Extensive damage was reported to both Boff’s vehicle and the trailer.
Neither Boff nor his passengers, Jessica Boff, 32, Paw Paw, and Kyle Boff, 11 months, Paw Paw, were reportedly injured.
Investigators at the scene were reportedly not able to determine if a hitch component failure caused the crash due to the extensive damage to the trailer hitch.
No citations were issued.
Citation issued in rollover
• Hunter Stier, 16, Gaylord, was towing a trailer with a 1990 Jeep Wrangler, southbound on I-75, three-tenths of a mile south of mile marker 275 in Otsego Lake Township, Aug. 27 around 8:05 a.m. when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle when the trailer began to fishtail.
Reports indicate the vehicle drove off the east side of the roadway and rolled over, causing extensive damage to Stier’s vehicle.
Stier and his passenger, Blair Murphy, 15, Gaylord, were transported to Otsego Memorial Hospital by the Otsego County EMS/Rescue and treated and released.
Stier was issued a citation for hazardous driving — violation of basic speed laws.
Driver hits guardrail
• George Empey, 61, Livonia, was northbound on I-75, just north of M-32 in Livingston Township, Aug. 29 around 12:20 p.m. when he reportedly lost control of the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette he was driving on the wet road during a steady rain.
Empey’s vehicle reportedly crossed the centerline and struck a guardrail causing moderate damage to his vehicle.
Empey was reportedly not injured and there were no citations issued.
Car-deer crash in Dover Twp.
• Felix Winkler, 60, Gaylord, was westbound on Sparr Road, one-tenth of a mile west of Dover Road in Dover Township, Saturday around 5:45 a.m. when he reportedly struck a deer with the 2003 Ford Explorer he was driving.
Moderate damage was reported to Winkler’s vehicle and he was not injured.

Larceny of cell phone
• Deputies responded to a complaint Saturday from Caroline Compton, Gaylord, who reported a Nokia cell phone, valued at $250, was taken from a parked vehicle at a Bagley Township residence.
Reports indicate the larceny occurred sometime between Aug. 27 and Aug. 31.
The case was closed due to a lack of investigative leads.
Driver injured in rollover
• Naomi Nordgren, 20, Gaylord, was eastbound on Sturgeon Valley Road, one-quarter mile east of Cherwinski Road in Corwith Township, Friday around 5:15 p.m. when she reportedly lost control of the 2004 Buick Century she was driving.
Reports indicate Nordgren slowed for a vehicle slowing down in front of her before she left the north side of the roadway and rolled over causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
Nordgren was transported to Otsego Memorial Hospital by the Otsego County EMS/Rescue and treated and released.
Golf cart passenger hurt
• Matthew Bernau, 22, Alonquin, Ill., was driving a golf cart on a cart path at Treetops Signature golf course in Dover Township, Saturday around 12:30 p.m. when the cart reportedly rolled over when he attempted to slow down on the wet path.
The golf cart reportedly rolled onto Bernau’s passenger, Andrew Bernau, 24, Alonquin, who sought his own treatment for injuries at Otsego Memorial Hospital and was treated and released. Matthew Bernau was reportedly not injured.
Gaylord City Police
Extensive damage reported in crash
• Jackie Purkiss, 37, Johannesburg, was eastbound on West Main Street, east of Murner Road, Aug. 29 around 10:45 p.m. when a 1995 Jeep driven by Jerry Mason, 69, Elmira, reportedly collided with the 1996 Dodge Caravan Purkiss was driving.
According to reports, Mason was attempting to cross West Main Street from a private drive and failed to yield to Purkiss’ vehicle, causing extensive damage to her vehicle and moderate damage to his vehicle.
There were no reported injuries and Mason was issued a citation for hazardous driving.
Citation issued after driver hits parked semi
• Joseph Saintcyr, 80, Bellaire, was reportedly backing a 2004 Oldsmobile van into a parking space on North Elm Street, just north of West Main Street, Friday around 10:30 a.m. when he reportedly struck the side of a 2000 Volvo semitrailer parked in an alley on the west side of North Elm Street.
According to reports, Saintcyr allegedly stated something was wrong with his vehicle when he put it into reverse. Reports indicate Saintcyr’s vehicle was allegedly operating all right and sustained moderate damage as a result of the crash. The parked vehicle also reportedly sustained moderate damage.
Saintcyr and his passenger, Gwen Saintcyr, 78, Bellaire, reportedly sustained minor injuries and were checked at the scene by the Otsego County EMS/Rescue.
Saintcyr was issued a citation for hazardous driving — improper backing, violation of basic speed laws.
Citation issued in rear-end crash
• Alison Scheer, 21, Stanwood, was slowing to make a turn into a private drive from West Main Street, just west of Indiana Avenue, Saturday around 2:50 p.m. when the rear end of the 2004 Mitsubishi she was driving was reportedly struck by the front end of a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Stephen Rau, 18, Gaylord.
There were no reported injuries and minor damage was reported to Scheer’s vehicle.
Moderate damage was reported to Rau’s vehicle and he was cited for hazardous driving — fail to stop within an assured clear distance ahead.
Moderate damage in 2-vehicle crash
• Timothy Seguin, 23, Gaylord, was driving a 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup southbound on South Wisconsin at West Main Street, Saturday around 3:30 p.m. when he reportedly collided in the intersection with a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by Joseph Rutyna III, 18, Gaylord.
Reports indicate Sequin allegedly stated the light was green when he entered the intersection and Rutyna, who was attempting to make a left turn from South Wisconsin Avenue, allegedly stated he had a green turn signal.
According to reports, there were no witnesses and moderate damage was reported to both vehicles.
Neither driver reportedly was injured.
Rear-end crash on North Otsego Avenue
• Don Belthouse Jr., 43, Bellaire, was stopped for a red light on southbound North Otsego Avenue at West Main Street, Saturday around 6:15 p.m. when the rear end of the 2003 Toyota he was driving was reportedly struck by the front end of a 2007 Ford driven by Dorothy Prajno, 81, Gaylord.
Reports indicate Prajno took her foot off of the brake and struck Belthouse’s vehicle, causing minor damage to both vehicles.
There were no reported injuries and no citations were issued.
