Richard Arthur Brabender
Friday, November 23, 2007 5:03 PM EST

Richard Brabender passed away Thursday, November 22.

Brabender, Richard “Dick” Arthur, age 69, of Lewiston and formerly of Little Bass Lake and St. Clair, lost his battle with pulmonary fibrosis and cancer, Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.

He was loving husband to Bonnie, for 23 years; dear father to Jeff (Debbie) Brabender of Salt Lake City, Utah, Julie (Ernie) Thomas of Pontiac, Kathy  (Paul) Bruer of St. Clair; and stepfather to Ron (Carol) Bailey of Castle Rock, Colo. and Connie (Russ) Webb of North Pole, Alaska. He was grandfather of 12; and great-grandfather of three.

He will also be greatly missed by Lacie, who he often told “You're the best dog I've got.”

He leaves behind two sisters, Susan Welser of St. Clair, and Donna Mau of Hobe Sound, Fla.; and a brother-in-law, Bob Woolman of Lewiston.

Two sisters preceded him in death, Joan Ladiski (Paul) and Betty Woolman (Bob).

Dick leaves behind far too many friends and relatives to possibly list by name. If he is in your heart, you can be sure that you were in his also.

He was born in St. Clair, Mich. on Nov. 23, 1937, to the late Art and Lillian Brabender.

Those who spent time with Dick heard stories from his many years working in the oil and gas industry, after moving north permanently 17 years ago.

Dick and Bonnie had done craft shows until recently. People meant a lot to Dick, and he was grateful for all those who stopped to visit with him over the years. For as many visitors as he’s had, it’s clear he also had a special place in the hearts of many.

Visitation will be at Green Funeral Home, Lewiston on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2-8 p.m., with a service to celebrate his life on Monday, Nov. 26. at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Sunrise Shore or the Brabender family.
