William Leslie Ferrett, age 86, of Gaylord, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007.

He was born Sept. 5, 1921 in Brown City. He was the loving husband of Thelma for 39 years. Mr. Ferrett lived in Vanderbilt and Gaylord for many years and wintered in Arizona the past 16 years.

He served his country for two years in the Navy during World War II as a motor machinist 3rd class, and retired from the state of Michigan.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma; children, Mel (Norma) Ferrett of Davison, Leslie Ferrett of Mancelona, Rex (Carol) Ferrett of Kansas, Shelia (Dennis) Dunn of Beaverton, Jerry Holborn of Gaylord, and Beth (Phil) Dipzinski of Gaylord; brother, Eugene Ferrett of Millington; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and George.
Funeral services will be held today (Saturday, Dec. 1) at 11 a.m. from the Gaylord Evangelical Free Church, Pastor Joe Sereno officiating.

Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home was held on Friday, 5-8 p.m., and will continue at the church today beginning at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family through the Nelson Funeral Home, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
