Budweiser Clydesdales coming to Alpenfest Grand Parade
Monday, April 28, 2008 11:08 AM EDT

GAYLORD — The Gaylord/Otsego County Chamber of Commerce and their Alpenfest Committee recently learned the famous Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales will be participating in the 2008 Alpenfest Grand Parade.

The team of eight Clydesdales will form the hitch team to pull a vintage 1900 Studebaker wagon, complete with the recognizable dalmatian mascot. These 1,800-pound horses and their colorful entourage will light up the faces of young and old alike along our parade route through downtown Gaylord.

The Alpenfest Grand Parade will start at noon Saturday, July 19.

" Good Job Chamber and Alpenfest members!!! I've seen the Clydesdales before and they are awesome. The kids and adults will come from miles and miles around for this parade. Beside the horses lets not forget the cargo they are pulling. The only thing better would be is if it was cargo was MILLER LITE. "

" Okay my mistake if you are correct. Not a beer garden kind of person. Don't remember the jets guess they didn't leave much of an impression. How do they meet the criteria of Alpenfest more than the horses?

If you want to see jets go to the Air Fair in June at the airport.
As far as heeding my own advice already done, I volunteered for Alpenfest for over 10 years. My guess is you have not.

" comeonpeople, Yes, Alpenfest, "DID" have jets. Back in the late '80's, early '90's, The Air Force recruiters brought an F-16, to Alpenfest, two years in a row. It sat at the west end of the Alpenstrasse. (near their offices) It was a training aid, without engines. It was mocked up to look like it did. People could set in the cockpit. And they pulled it behind a truck in the parade. And alpine, though it isn't "horsenfest" (pferdefest?), it wasn't "jetfest" either. The jets were cool but have nothing to do with Alpenfest . (There isn't even an airport in Pontresina)
I am the wind! The Col. "

" WELL... you have NEVER or REMEMBER the Alpenfest's of the 80's. Drinking at the old beer garden were you? we did have a jet for a couple of years, sat right down town where all the stuff for sale sits now. As far as for doing my part, I do, I spend money there every year. As far as "shuttin up" I think your adive should be heeded by yourself!!!

my question is... How do these horses have any thing to do with the Alps and or an Alpenfest? its not horsenfest, or vendorfestin, or even fleamarketfestin... "

" alpine, I don't know what festival you attended but Alpenfest doesn't have jets. Hats off to the Chamber and Alpenfest. It isn't easy pulling off such a big event. alpine if you think the festival needs help get in there and volunteer; or as they say put up or shut up. "

" A horse is a horse, bring back the jets that used to sit in town for all to see and touch! Oh, the fest of the 80's was better. Now its just a big flea market! "
