North Country Trail meetingANTRIM COUNTY — To celebrate National Trails Day, the North Country Trails Association (NCTA) offers hikers an opportunity to build a piece of history Saturday.
A new two-mile section of trail is being added to the North Country Trail, following a ridge line between M-32W and US-131. Volunteers are needed June 7 to help complete the project.
NCTA’s Tittabawassee Chapter maintains roughly 70 miles of the NCT, from Kalkaska northward through the city of Petoskey and this project is the newest addition to the trail.
Trail crews will assemble at the Warner Creek Pathway trailhead at 9 a.m. The trailhead is located two miles west of US-131 on M-32.
Volunteers should bring a lunch and water to the work day.
