Johannesburg-Lewiston school board
approves budget

LEWISTON — Johannesburg-Lewiston (J-L) Area Schools Supt. Jim Hilgendorf reported a 1.2 percent decrease in revenues and a 2.67 percent increase in expenditures on the proposed 2008-09 budget during a special board meeting Monday.
The board unanimously approved the budget that was based on an anticipated count of 845 students making up $6,530,905 of the $7,393,306 total revenue.
They finished the 2007-08 year with an amended budget of $7,479,402 in total revenues.
Expenses for the approved 2008-09 budget are $7,586,044; $192,738 greater than anticipated revenue.
The board adopted the 2007-08 year budget of $7,389,176 in expenditures.
In other board news, the board voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of Katie Basinski of Gaylord as Lewiston School special education instructor. Joan Switalski was approved as J-L High School office aide.
Regular board meetings are held the second Monday of the month. The next meeting is July, 14 at 7:30 in the J-L High School library.
