•St. Mary graduate Adam Kerfoot may have exhausted his collegiate basketball eligibility, but he will remain active in the game this coming season.

Kerfoot, who played at both Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Madonna College, is returning to Kalamazoo Valley this season as the top assistant in the men’s basketball program.

Kerfoot was a standout guard at St. Mary, KVCC and Madonna.

•You don’t have to wait until the opening game of the season to get a look at the Gaylord High and St. Mary football teams. Both the Blue Devils and Snowbirds will be hosting preseason scrimmages.

Gaylord will take the field Friday, Aug. 20 against always-powerful Midland Dow, while St. Mary will host Rogers City on the same day.

Johannesburg-Lewiston is the only local team traveling. The Cardinals will scrimmage at Manton Wednesday, Aug. 20, along with Mesick and Coleman.
