OTSEGO COUNTY - Five area young ladies will vie for the 2008 Otsego County Fair Queen crown at 7 p.m. Sunday at Evangelical Free Church in Gaylord.

This year’s contestants; Kendall Agee, 16; Jessica Love, 17; Megan Esson, 16; Alicia McNamara, 16; and Lenora Love, 15, will dance to “Stray Cat Strut” during the opening number.

“It’s an adorable dance and it was actually choreographed by the girls,” stated Renee Agee, pageant director.

The first practice with sound was Tuesday and went very well, according to Agee.

Dress rehearsal is today (Saturday).

“These girls are ready” for Sunday’s pageant, Agee said.

Agee, whose parents, Bob and Dorothy Young, directed the first fair queen pageant, has been director for 16 years. She was a contestant in the fair’s first pageant.

According to Agee, contestants are judged on:

• interview, 45 points;

• opening number, 10 points;

• talent, 25 points;

• evening gown, 25 points;

• impromptu question, 10 points; and,

• director’s comments, 10 points.

Winners will be crowned by 2007 Queen Amanda Cook. The winner will receive a $500 scholarship and a $150 savings bond; the first runner-up will get a $100 savings bond; and the second runner-up, a $50 savings bond. Additionally, talent, evening gown and winner and Miss Congeniality will each earn a $50 savings bond.

Hosted by Jim Miller, this year’s pageant begins at 7 p.m. and admission is $7.
