In the Huddle: Finally time to finally hit another color jersey
By Brian Bliss

The time has finally come when the football team gets to stop hitting each other and start popping the pads with another team. Friday will be the first chance our team gets to play against another team from another school with pads on.

From a player's perspective, I can tell you that everyone on the team is very excited about being able to scrimmage Midland Dow. While playing with pads and hitting each other is fun, it can get quite monotonous at times and a change of pace will be nice. Wednesday night marked the end of two-a-days for the team and also signifies the beginning of the rest of our season. Some may see two-a-days as sort of phase I, or the beginning of our season. Now that's over, we look forward to playing Midland Dow Friday, and then on to our regular season with Escanaba a week from Friday.

Another reason the excitement and intensity is so high for the scrimmage is this will be our first chance to show not only the coaches, but our friends and family how hard we have been working and how well we can play. And while things can change and adjustments can be made, some can look at this scrimmage as a small preview of what is to come this season.

Last year, for the first time since I can remember, Gaylord football abandoned the Alma team scrimmages and set up one against one team, Midland Dow. We traveled down to Midland last year, and things ran pretty well and went smoothly, so the coaches decided to go for another year, but this time they will travel up north and find out what Northern Michigan Football is about!

" Sounds like a very exciting start. I will continue to keep in touch to see how the Blue Devils work there magic. "
