New teachers join Otsego County schools

Ann Greif
District: JLAS

Classes You’ll be Teaching: I will be teaching seventh and eighth grade science classes as well as Exploratory Art to sixth, seventh and eighth graders.
Educational Background: I received a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and my teaching certificate from Ferris State University with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.
Teaching experience: I am beginning my fourth year teaching. Prior to coming to Lewiston, I taught eighth-12th grade science classes at Gaylord St. Mary Cathedral School.
Attraction to Lewiston School: I find Lewiston appealing because of the inviting sense of community, wonderful faculty and staff and superior reputation.
Family: Ann and her husband, Jeff have two children, Emily, sixth grade, and Andrew, fourth grade.
Hobbies: Volleyball, softball, swimming, camping, traveling and trying to keep up with my children.
Heather Esterline
District: Gaylord St. Mary
Home: Bellaire
Classes You’ll be Teaching: Anatomy/Physiology, Earth Science, Physical Science, Biology and Environmental Science
Educational Background: Undergraduate at Arizona State University with a bachelor of science degree in environmental resources and then I received my teaching certificate from Siena Heights University in Adrian. I have a DX endorsement for 6-12 Science.
Teaching experience: I taught two years of 8th grade Science in Hillsdale, Michigan before moving to Northern Michigan.
Hobbies: Anything outdoors, traveling, snowboarding, cooking, reading, boating, etc.
Kristin Tebo
District: Vanderbilt
Home: Rogers City
Classes you will be teaching: Seventh and eighth grade
Educational background: Spring Arbor University with a triple minor in elementary education, language arts and social studies. Graduated Summa Cum Laude: 3.96 GPA.
Teaching experience: One year, fourth-grade, Cape Coral, Fla.; and one year, fifth to eighth-grade at Bishop Baraga in Cheboygan.
Attraction to Vanderbilt Area Schools: Small school, great staff, nice technology and I appreciate the amount of family involvement in the school.
Family: Husband Dean; a deputy with the Presque Isle Sheriff’s Dept.
Hobbies: Enjoy working out and staying in shape; reading, shopping and spending time with family (nieces and nephews).
Kelly Long
District: Vanderbilt
Home: Gaylord
Classes you will be teaching: Second and third grade
Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a language arts and social studies endorsement.
Teaching experience: Student teaching; second-grade in Boyne Falls. Several long-term positions in area schools.
Attraction to Vanderbilt Area Schools: Small-school setting is a great educational environment.
Family: Husband, George, and daughter, Megan.
Hobbies: Camping, reading and biking.
