To the Editor: Gas prices have less room to soar

On Sept. 17 while reading the headline story of the Gaylord Herald Times, it said that the increase in price of gas in Gaylord was substantially lower than other areas. In many areas it jumped 60 cents a gallon. Gaylord’s increase was less. Also we didn’t need to jump 60 cents a gallon to hit the state average price because Gaylord’s price was already so high.
AAA of Michigan said gas prices across the state had soared 43 cents a gallon to hit a statewide average of 4.17 a gallon.
The laugh is on you Michigan. Gaylord only had to increase the price of gas 24 cents a gallon to exceed the state average by 2 cents a gallon.
Today I also saw on CNN, that to tell if a gas station is gouging, you only need to look at the prices of neighboring stations and compare their prices.
I have lived in the Gaylord area for many years and can’t remember when there was over 1-cent-a-gallon difference in any stations in town. Except when Glens put in pumps and let us buy cheaper gas for a minute.
