LEWISTON -- In its 25th year, the Christmas in October Arts and Crafts Bazaar is slated for Oct. 18 at the Lewiston School gymnasium.

The Montmorency County Habitat for Humanity now benefits from the annual event previously hosted by St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church.

Habitat took over the benefit last year when the church ran into scheduling problems.

The event, open 9 a.m.-4 p.m., offers various arts and crafts and hourly drawings of vendor donated items. A continental breakfast, lunch and snacks will be available in the school cafeteria with proceeds to benefit Lewiston Lioness Lions.

From 1996-99, Habitat built one house per year in Montmorency County. In 2000 they built two homes per year until this year when they are building three.
