Gaylord's chances for a playoff berth ended with a heart-pounding 13-7 defeat on Homecoming Friday.
The Falcons, paced by a stifling defense, led 13-0 with two minutes remaining, before Gaylord attemped a thrilling comeback. Tyler Pollack snagged a 13-yard pass from Nick Freeman to cut the lead to 13-7.,
Then, Jake Dombrowski executed a perfect onside kick that was recovered by James Wagner. The Devils preceeded to drive downfield, but were stalled when a 4th-and-10 pass fell through the outstretched hands of a receiver.
Freeman passed for 172 yards for Gaylord, with Blake Fitzek posting 84 receiving yards. Kelton Hervela was the leading rusher with 52 yards.
