Anniversary: Laurences celebrate gold

Frank J. and Margaret I. (Spisak) Laurence
GAYLORD -- Frank J. and Margaret I. (Spisak) Laurence celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 25.
They were married on Oct. 25, 1958 at a Solemn High Mass at St. Mary’s in Wayne by the Rev. John Haney and the Rev. Furlong.
The couple met at a cousin’s home and fell in love at first sight. Frank was born in Wayne and Margaret in Dearborn.
They moved to Gaylord from Garden City in 1974.
Frank is semi-retired. He graduated from Cheboygan High School and attended University of Texas, joined the U.S. Air Force, then became a pharmaceutical sales rep. He enjoys fishing and hunting.
Margaret is a 1949 graduate of Wayne High School. She worked at her father’s booking business then started a family and has been enjoying her grandchildren. She enjoys flowers and cooking.
The couple have six children: Mary Graham of Gaylord; Theresa Zywicki of Traverse City; Cathy Smith of Gaylord; Frank J. Laurence Jr. of Gaylord; Steve E. Laurence of Grand Rapids and Patricia Laurence of Gaylord.
The Laurences also have 12 grandchildren.
