Mrs. Rose M. Bozek, age 92, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at Lake Park Nursing Center in Indian Trail, N.C. Mrs. Bozek was born in Detroit on Sept. 11, 1916 and moved to the Gaylord area in 1954. Rose had worked in the office at St. Mary Elementary School for a number of years and later was a sales clerk at the Plum Shop and a front desk reservation receptionist at the Timberly Motel. She was a former member of St. Mary parish and Altar Rosary Society. She and her husband Joseph had owned Bozek Jewelry Store in Gaylord. One of the clocks from Bozek Jewelry is on display at the Gaylord Historical Society Museum. Mrs. Bozek also enjoyed painting china, loved flowers, the outdoors with drives to see the fall colors, and picking berries and morel mushrooms.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Matt) Ketcham of Landrum, S.C. and Elizabeth (Tom) Kolden of Lakeville, Minn.; three grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Huhn, Jeffery Huhn and Adam Modares; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1958; and four sisters, Virginia, Vera “Mimi”, Fran and Eleanor.

Rose will be in state at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 with funeral services at 11 a.m., Rev. John McCracken officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Gaylord.

Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

St. Mary Altar Rosary Society will offer a rosary Thursday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
