It was likely more of a struggle this year for many to come up with reasons to be thankful as they gathered over Thanksgiving dinner. Let’s not recount the litany of reasons why.

Having to give it more thought, maybe the reasons you came up with were more meaningful.

• Help is on the way. While specifics are still being hammered out, at least those in government are talking about how to help.

• Friends and family who bring comfort in even the leanest of times.

• Snow, and the snowjobs that come with them.

• Gas prices dropping to make travel easier.

• A community which cares to help even under tough economic times.

• The Detroit Lions, who took the burden off the turkey to get us to sleep.

You had your own reasons. The good news is that if you were able to come up with any, your holiday spirit can be salvaged.
