Five vie in contest to be

The five girls seeking the title of Alpenfest Queen are (in alphabetical order):

• Taylor Beyer, daughter of Thomas and Karin Beyer, is a student at Michigan State University. For her talent event, she’ll be performing “Astonishing”, from Little Women. Taylor is 19 years old, and is sponsored by Saturn Booksellers.

 

• Alyssa FitzGerald is the 17 year-old daughter of Cindy and Jeff FitzGerald, and will be a senior at Gaylord High School in the fall. She will share her vocal talents, presenting “Dancing in the Streets.” Alyssa is sponsored by Caribbean Tan.

• Heather Knause is sponsored by Oliver’s Chiropractic Center. She’s 19 years old and attends Grand Valley State University. She’ll perform a gymnastics routine to the accompaniment of “Cotton Eyed Joe.” Her parents are Carl and Dawn Knause.

 

• Alicia McNamara is 17 years old, and will present a Hip-Hop dance during the talent portion of the pageant. Alicia will be a senior at Gaylord High School this fall, and is sponsored by Wade Trim. She’s the daughter of Ginger and Shawn McNamara.

 

• Kayla Newberry, daughter of Karen Foster and Kevin Newberry, is a student at Michigan State University. She’s sponsored by Big Buck Brewery and Steakhouse and will be singing the Eda James ballad, “At Last.” She’s 20 years old.
