CRAWFORD COUNTY - While enroute to investigate the possible breaking and entering of a Frederic Township seasonal residence this morning (Tuesday) deputies from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Dept. (CCSD) nabbed two suspects allegedly in possession of a large quantity of marijuana.

According to a Tuesday news release from Crawford County Sheriff Kirk Wakefield two of his deputies; Jason Alexander and R. Swope, were dispatched today (Tuesday) around 10:10 a.m. to a seasonal residence in northern Crawford County to investigate a breaking and entering.

Wakefield stated Alexander, while enroute to back up Swope, encountered two men walking northbound on Old 27 with two large garbage bags over their shoulders. The subjects fled on foot into a wooded area with Alexander in foot pursuit. He was assisted by Swope during the chase.

The two suspects were taken into custody by the deputies and found to allegedly be in possession of a large amount of marijuana, a rifle and a safe.

Wakefield said the two men admitted to breaking into the residence and stealing the marijuana.

Deputies then continued to the seasonal residence and made contact with the homeowner who stated his house had just been broken into and later admitted the marijuana was his.

Deputies seized approximately 12 pounds of marijuana, the weapon and a large amount of cash.

All three subjects were taken into custody and their names are being withheld pending arraignment on a variety of felony charges.
